My Three Legged Rescue Dog Is A Great Soccer Defender

Please shares this to dog owner groups so we can spread the word three-legs isn't a hinderance to dogs or owners. Thanks Malcolm

Being a dog owner I love the Vet programmes on the various channels. Sadly I've noticed an increasing number of people putting their dogs through hell in order to keep a defective, damaged or infected leg, because they feel that their lovely pet will be some how be diminished, unhappy or be unable to cope if it has the limb amputated. But owning a very active (when he isn't sleeping 22 out of 24 hours a day) rescue Lurcher (greyhound saluki cross) called Skippy, I know that he is not hindered or disabled by having had his left back leg amputated after being thrown from a moving vehicle. He's always happy, playful and full of beans and constantly running or should I say leaping about, including charging up and down six flights of stairs to my Lab to steal my Ginger Nut Biscuits. When we run Skippy and his Sister Bree (who has four legs) there is very little difference in speed and agility other than cunning Bree has figured out that he turn slow one way than the other so uses it to her advantage. A dogs leg amputation is very quick, pain free and unless there is a residual infection from an injury the healing is also very quick and the dogs rehab is also quite quick. Whereas complex surgery takes time, risks infection, puts the dog through months of pain and discomfort and may leave the dog with worse mobility than having three legs. So please watch the video and consider it should you dog suffer injury or other problems. My second gripe is! I've been watching so great dog re-homing programmes and time after time people are rejecting three legged dogs(tri-paw or tri-pad) on the grounds that they don't think the dog is right, or it wont be happy, or it wont be so loving etc let me assure you Skippy is the most affectionate and sweet dog in the home I've ever come across and is full of beans and fun to be with, so please give three legged dogs a chance what love you show them they'll give you back in heaps. I hope you like the video, Skippy is an amazing defender at football or Soccer and every time we open the back door or step out into the garden he rushes for a ball to play goal keeper. Skippy And Bree My Lurcher Friends

We watched a UK SuperVET programme recently where a  had major surgery on their dogs damaged leg, despite being informed there was a high likelihood of it failing and serious infection, rather than have the leg amputated.  It went ahead and the poor dog went through weeks of infection and pain and the vet offered to remove the leg saying the dog would survive and be happy on three legs. But I was stunned! as the owner of a very happy 3 legged dog (they call them Tri-Paw or Try-Pad) that they owners asked for the dog to be put down rather than having the leg amputated and the dog living.  Their reasoning was that they didn't think their dog would be happy on 3 legs.

This is a list of videos of my two beautiful rescue Lurchers (Saluki Greyhound Cross) and as you can see from the videos they are both happy, loving, devoted, bouncy, mischievous and fast.  One Skippy has three legs and the other Bree has four legs.  Please Please believe me it makes no difference to the dog as long as they have loving and caring friends and get charge around they are happy.

Please share this and make it viral so more dog owners don't make the mistake of thinking that having only 3 legs is sufficient reason to give them a death sentence.

Perhaps if more dog lovers see these videos they will understand and not put their best dog friend though hell

Thank you to all who watch and share these videos and help me help other dogs with damaged legs live a long and worthwhile life.

Lurcher Dogs Play Brawling In Fresh Snow

After Skippy went out on his own Tri-Paw three legs the first time, the next time I opened the door to let Bree our beautiful grey Lurcher (Greyhound Saluki Cross) out Skippy shot out causing hilarious mayhem.  I love these dogs.

This video is about Two Lurcher Greyhounds And A Cocker Spaniel Chasing In Virgin Snow

This was Skippy's third outing in the virgin snow in a day, having never experienced it before.  He went from strength to strength despite his disability from only having 1 back leg.  He raced around trying to catch his house mate Bree the beautiful Grey Lurcher.

My two Lurchers are 50% Greyhound/Saluki crosses.

SHARE if you remember chasing through the snow whit no thoughts of what lay beneath it and loved it.

SHARE if you'd be happy to adopt and disabled dog or bitch.

After creating mayhem I had to muzzle skippy whilst I got on with the job at hand of putting out the recycling and trash.  But despite the muzzle he manage some cunning stealing and eating,  But he couldn't dispose of the evidence.  Its in 3D because that was the camera to hand when I was laughing at his cunning and skills.

My Flying Greyhound Lurchers

Having purchased my first 2nd user digital SLR and Nikon 5100 I decided I'd give it a go shooting Bree and Skippy running at full pelt around a Norfolk Beach.

Lurchers are fast, very fast, and both our rescue dogs are Lurchers and are a cross between Saluki and Greyhound.  They are sleek and swift.

Lurchers like Greyhounds are on of the few dogs that spends more time flying through the air, with all feet off the ground when running, than with its feet on the ground.  They are so fast that they are even able to achieve this feat on wet sandy beeches as you can see in the picture below.

I'm really thankful that the Nikon 5100 was fast enough to capture this even with the 55-200 lens.  Do any of you notice something different about Skippy in the background?  If you have already seen Skippy please don't comment as I'm interested in viewers perceptions of what they think they see to what they can actually see.

Flying Lurchers All Feet Are Off The Sand
I also made a video on my iPhone as they were flying around the beach chasing each other.

I hope you like the pictures, please comment and I'll post some more pictures.
